My 4.7 HO WJ is quicker than the 3.0lt wk2 (just barely) and my 5.7 wk2 is quicker again.
The diesel is great as they are fast and use bugger all fuel, but no matter how much you spend on them, they still can't beat the hemi off the line.
Diesel is surely the pick of the bunch, but I just love the V8 rumble (can't be achieved with the 3.0lt)

I really wanted a 5.7 Overland when I bought my WK2 new, but the concern was that no one would want to buy it from me and massive depreciation, Australians are scared of petrol/v8 large 4 wheel drives and this is only very slowly changing.
The depreciation occurred anyway and there wasn't much in it either way, should have just done it, live/learn.

Same here mate, when I bought my CRD I really wanted the 5.7 Hemi but FCA were already going limp dick and not offering the 5.7 V8 in Aus. So it was CRD or SRT and I went with the diesel.

Thanks Dave, I agree, the V8 noise is like no other.
I just had my mufflers done, the V8 is now alive!
My friend is having his diesel tuned after seeing how much quicker the hemi is, I’ll let you know how it goes once done.

Your’re not wrong, the depreciation on these WK2s is massive hence I purchased second hand ( plus I had no choice, I wanted a V8..... no new option)

Would be really interested to see how much quicker it is than stock. If you ever get the chance, time it, even if just rough.
Good on you mate,

Hey Ben,
Had my nephew do a 0 - 100 Kph test this morning using proper calibrated equipment.
Keep in mind that he races cars as well as does new car tests for one of the leading car magazines.
The average seemed to be 6.9 seconds...... not bad for a diesel. I think the listed stock time is 8.3 seconds.
I don't really care about 0 - 100 figures as this is not why I did the improvements.
I did it for the towing torque, economy and longevity of the engine.
Cheers, Craig

Hi Craig,
Greats results!
I think anything under 7 seconds for a 4wd is great and under 6 is brilliant.
My friend has his 3.0l booked in for a tune Monday, I’ll let you know his thoughts once done.
I have my 5.7l booked in for mid November.
Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,
Interested to hear how you and your mate go with your tunes.
Big thing for me is the torque as mentioned..... effortless towing 🙂
Cheers, Craig
