Yeah a traction bar is the route I'm taking. Ruffstuff specialities make a really neat kit so I'm waiting for their next sale to purchase all my parts. I'm also going to get the lower shock tabs from them as their designed to fit the bolt plates that they sell for my application and it will give me some adjustment.

If well setup there isn't anything that can touch them for performance and travel (8" shock = 16" @2:1 ratio + horizontal mount across the frame so not thru the floor....
......In stage2 mods for the CJ I plan to change the rear suspension setup to 1.5:1 ratio Cantilever 12" Coil-over/long-arms & this will give me 18" travel and the ability to custom set up/down travel limits.

Yeah I think they look great and I understand how I works but it's a little to complicated for the rear of an xj. I really don't know how good it would be with leaf springs due to the shape of the arc they travel through during their cycle, I think tuning would become a nightmare! Plus it would require ALOT of frame work to make it hold up on the unit body with the load being generated in multiple planes. Perfect for the cj though! At least you have a frame to weld to plus you'll be running it on links not leaves. I've seen one done on a JK that looked pretty amazing and I think it's on pirate a guys doing it on a Zj! But once again....coils! Got me thinking though

Why not just put a 4 link and coil overs in lol. But seriously they look awesome might look at them myself when the xj becomes a trailer truck.

Seriously even if I had the money I'd still stay on leaves! And honestly the shock hoop setup isn't that big of a deal, just a bit of basic fab work. Why wait till it's on a trailer? Where's the fun in that!

What length are the shocks?

Traction bars are not required on coils as they have trailing arms, they are for leaf springs.

the idea of the shackle at the front is to allow the spring to still work, on the pic, they have braced the mount back on the angle to the xj chassis rail if you can call the unibody box a chassis.

Many that convert XJs to v8 install a track bar to avoid axle wind up, and basically that is why Jeep placed one shock in front and one behind was to aid with axle tramp/windup.

Search places like Pirate 4x4 plenty of people done this with leaf springs so getting geometry correct should not be too difficult
