Hi Geoff, like all of our other bars, the stone shields that cover the gap between the bottom of the bull bar and the factory under vehicle panels are designed to protect radiators, washer bottles and other delicate frontal components from stones flicking up from the front tyres and water being forced up at high pressure.
They are not designed or marketed as bash plates. Manufacturing these from 3mm steel would add substantially to the weight and the cost of the bar unnecessarily.
