And all in all what have we learnt? Common sense never prevails, missery comes in all shapes and sizes and customer service isnt what it used to be in the 50's.

Got my torque converter replaced when car was out of Ks (104,000) but still less than 3 years old, the past relationship was clearly stated as the only reason I wasn't told to go away.
I use to take my car to the dealer for all work. Had my heater core fail at 500km's past warranty and they charged me the full cost and labour (plus they did a crap job which I had to fix myself). I guess it depends on the dealer as there is some that I would go to and have been great - its just that they are on the oposite side of Sydney to me.

It does make sense to get your car serviced by the same dealer...but I guess at the end of the day if your vehicle has a problem it should be fixed correctly by whoever the jeep dealer is. It seems from what people are alleging in this thread that this is not always the case.

However, in my travels the jeep owners I have spoken with tell a different story. When I had the issue with the fuel pump in WA I was referred to Chellingworth Motors by a Jeep owner who said they would look after me and they did. The reason he did that was because he had had a problem some years previous when he was in WA and they looked after him pronto and got him back on the road within days.

If repairs are not being carried out correctly by an authorised Jeep dealer/workshop then I think that CJ in Melbourne should be advised. Lets face it the 4x4 industry is very competitive and I'm sure that Jeep Australia do not want their vehicles compromised by having incompetent repairs being performed.

In your case signwilson Jeep have come to the party have they not? albeit after a some haggling. With respect, you could not expect Jeep to readily accept your damage was a construction fault of the vehicle. It seems to me there are a number of factors that need to be considered and these have been mentioned on this site, and I think it is fair to say there is a bit of scepticsm by a number of people in terms of what you say OK. I am sure This same sceptiscm would have been considered by Jeep.

I think that there can be no doubt that what ever caused your problem was the result of a fair amount of stress on the towbar. Quite frankly I think you have been extremely fortunate that Jeep have come to the party to some degree albeit that it is not the sort of outcome you wanted but I think it is about time you got over it and moved on!!!

As I said in a previous comment I really don't think that the intention of this site is for jeep owners to bag the heck out of Jeeps or the manufacturer or perhaps to use the site as a means to an end.

All I want is for people to know and understand there is anproblem and it is not just my Jeep they have such a bad reputation in this area for this problem that I am going to have to take it else where to sell it now it is fixed. It is not so much CJ but the stealerships that have caused me problems.

What bad reputation?? Literally several million people a year around the world use their properly set up Wj's to tow everything from trailers, to caravans to horse floats without one iota of a problem.

Thats dead right, how many wj's have been sold, and how many times has this happened? you found how many cases signwilson? 5? compared to sales figures DC wont give a rats ring about it. They SHOULD but they WON'T no matter how hard you winge. Its a pity but thats how the world works today.

I think DC should have just fixed your rig or got you a new one, but i'm old fashioned I guess.
