just dreaming and thought I would share
All inspired by this add in the trading post this week: Tow truck, F350. Conventional crane type, LWB. No.5 Dawn winch, 302V8, Dana70 hwy diff, cabin very rusty. $1800 or will wreck. (0417)822-618
I was seeing how cheap you could buy big F series trucks and then take the axles out and scrap the rest of it. I have never been to a Ford wrecking specialist or seen a dana diff advertised seperately so buying the whole truck seems like, possibly a good way to do it.
Anyway, I am going to put in some time on POr finding out the lowdown on junkyard swapping.
Has anyone else researched what the best donor vehicle for a dana 60 front and dana 60 or 70 rear is?
I recall F350's being the good ones to find, but I don't have any idea how wide they are and all of the steps needed to get them under the TJ.
Should of been paying more attention to POR, JP and Petersons.
There may also be differences between the 2WD and 4WD versions and also changes to our aussie versions of them.
The small list I compiled is:
67-85 ford f-100 rear
67-85 ford f-150 rear
67-92 ford f-250 front/rear
78-92 ford f-350 front/rear
66-93 jeep j10 rear
lots of chevy,dodge,scout 3/4 and 1 tons
Early 80's Ford & Dodge vans have full floater rears. These are the big 1ton vans.
And a huge sortable list which is very cool is here:
