Can anyone share how they did up the reused fuel lines to the correct torque. I have all the bits to do the Turbo coolant line but apprehensive due to stuffing up the torque, too loose or too tight and stuffing them.

All the fuel lines are easy as and from memory a 19mm and 17mm ring and open to undo and they were torqued up pretty tight so light tap of the hammer to crack the bind off on one or two of them. So I just did the armstrong guess close to enough method and was a tad conservative as well. Then of course checking and rechecking as I have left the cover off for now. Once you crack one open and redo, you will realise they are stronger than you and I. i.e. you should not even strip a thread with those size spanner sets unless you go silly.

Side issue, drove the jeep for near two hours like the old fella's on this thread do with a new found urge to put the hat on inside the cab and pleased to say EGT's mostly sub 400 and a peak of 450ish. One blip of 520 to ruin my effort over 2 hours. I also found out by disconnecting the EGR electrical will generate faults so its just leave the EGR module on for now. The Tune is not that detailed to eliminate the sensors.

I did see another coolant line pick with some very tidy screw up head on clamps that were not worm drive and so long as they are not el cheapo, this will work as well and make life very easy.

I better get my hard hat now!

I found with the fuel lines they were not that tight really. (11Nm + 75 degrees) I think over tightening is more likely to cause problems by deforming the jointing surfaces. This is why they are specified as a replacement item in the service manual.

N.B. IMHO I think they are good for a couple of retensions before they will require replacement. The lines were out of stock from Rock Auto when I was doing my job.

Thanks for this, so the 75 degrees initially will create the crush point. Like first use of a spark plug washer. At a rough guess I would have only torqued to say 20nm as the lock up pretty tight in reuse. Perhaps thing spark plug tension then check for leaks, if present then notch up a tad.

Yep, when I replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor with a second hand one the crush seal had obviously been crushed so I torqued to required amount (which wasn’t that high) and then gave the spinner a good hit with the palm of my hand so it tightened a touch more. Has never leaked

Probably the most important thing is to reuse the lines in the same place around the same way, I don’t know if it’s possible to mix them up or not but that would probably lead to problems.

Don’t forget test for leaks with cardboard not your finger

Not going to believe this, my turbo valley house just started leaking yesterday and a potential buyer is coming to look at it tomorrow. Hows the timing..
