not much new building wise, but an update nevertheless:
since i get the question about fuel milage a bit, here's what happened last week...
we went to northern italy for a week - mostly easy highways speeds of somewhere around 80km/h.

average milage: 10.5l/100km

(i just love the diesel)

right now in german
it's about 1,10 euro/litre petrol (AU$2.11/L)
and 0,93 euro/litre for diesel (AU$1.79/L)

in italy about the same, austria it is 10-15 cents (AU$0.2-0.3) less...

Those Asfir skids look really solid and tidy and it seems a bit of thought has gone into them, pity no one sells them here.

yes, they are nice but hang a bit low...
they could have shaved of 2-3cm to save clearance.

but highcentering the rig did the trick and made it all nice and tight ))

ok, here's a HUGE step for me!!!

i finally got the 4" skyjacker lift installed!
that was hard work. for half a year i was trying to find a TÜV guy who would put his signature under it without success
so i skipped the plan installing it myself and went with a shop that works with TÜV every now and then. they did a great job, but on the day of the tech. inspection the TÜV guy broke his leg (6-10 weeks out) - very bad.
the alternative guy was a bit more complicated to work with but it all turned out well ))
so now it's L I F T E D.
only thing is, the tires look very small now

pics to follow..........

I kind of got the impression that was part of the genius of their design, the bars are supposed to absorb some of the shock by flexing a little before transferring it to the chassis, mush like the new systems they use to stop ATM theft, which have a metal plate at the bottom which flexes rather than bolts which ar tight down and snap clean off from shock when the machine is hit.
