I get the wear and tear argument - whether true or not remains to be seen, but has no impact on take off when towing - the thing restarts before your foot is even off the brake pedal. In fact, just reducing pressure on the brake pedal (without taking your foot off the pedal) will fire up the engine - which is useful when anticipating a quick launch at a tricky intersection. Like anything, you learn how it works and how to use it. Definitely very low on the list of “things that are annoying about owning a Jeep”!

Don't know about aggrieved lujabe, a bit irritated maybe. Most functions in modern cars are there for comfort, convenience and less effort. With this function you need to train yourself to disable it, which seemingly many people do in order to override the system. If you've developed the habit of disabling S/S every time you drive, surely that means you don't like it either...
When I'm ready to pull away with a 2.5t caravan behind, all my attention is where it should be without needing to remember to turn the S/S off, so thank goodness my GC doesn't have it. To me S/S is in the same bracket as unsolicited email, I dislike the concept of having to
opt-out preferring the option to
opt-in, if I want to. Wouldn't be hard for the manufacturers to do that with S/S.
I guess it's a topic that polarises opinion.
