Please excuse my ignorance mate. Ebld I think is Electronic brake lock differential? But I'm not sure if my 07 3.8l petrol 6 speed manual has it? It has the ESC which works only in 2wd and high range 4wd throwing a bit of brake in if I go too hard on a corner of a gravel road, but I don't think that's what you mean? Am I missing something here?

I have the next year, '08 manual 3.8. Yes, yours does have it. It is also how the traction control works, just another name for it. (Like the mainframe computer a friend worked on decades ago, where he found wires marked, "TO AMD". They didn't know what an AMD was, nor could they trace the wires. The manual just had a box marked "AMD" in the circuit diagram & the parts list wasn't much help either. It was a fairly cheap part, though, so they ordered one to find out just what the hell it was. With great excitement on the day, they opened the box that arrived & found... a 4" fan marked "Air Movement Device". )

Best example I had was going up to the top of Mt Walker near Lithgow. The guy spotting for me said he could see how a tyre would start spinning, then just stop as the brake activated on that wheel, to push power to the other side.

It is, however, sometimes an issue. Several people here at least have encountered the problem that when going up a very slippery hill & the traction control, (EBLD), activating a lot. When they went to use the brakes to hold position or because they couldn't get any further that way, it was like a brick under the pedal as the ELBD had basically locked the pedal out. This resulted in them rolling backwards with no brakes for several seconds, until it decided to switch back to normal operation.

Note, though, this only happened under very specific circumstaces with very slippery conditions.

It's a pain in the arse on sand. I always forget to turn it off when in 4 High so I do most of my sand driving in 4 Low so I don't have to think about it.
