Default Anyone else have a faint high pitched noise from KL?

Our TH has had a high pitched noise - best way to describe it is like a Tinnitus whine or what you hear from some electronics (capacitors?) - that seems to be from the rear area somewhere. I haven't crawled under yet to investigate closer - will maybe do that this arvo with a piece of garden hose as a stethoscope.

Does anyone else have this and maybe have insights into what it's about??

There's some threads on US forums which touch on it - most hair raising is one where they had their rear diff replaced to fix their sound as it was apparently a diff mode switching motor or solenoid. Not sure of course if this is the same thing we're hearing - on another thread people were describing a "whistle" which was CLEARLY a contact/rubbing (metal to metal) noise which was cyclic and directly linked to the engine spinning over (rolleyes).

There's a link on one of those US threads to a vid that IS the same noise albeit a bit louder than ours - I'll add a link when I have more time to hunt it down.

I assumed it was the fuel pump - our Falcon makes a very similar tho lower pitched sound which is definitely the fuel pump. The sound itself doesn't worry me as such - but I'll be concerned if it's a solenoid etc. busily cooking itself...

Yep - A really high-frequency sound when you are standing at the rear. I've never figured out what it is but I don't think it's the same sound as the guys on the other forum are talking about.

Check out this Aust. review video of the KL. You hear the noise between 1:37 and 1:41.

If you figure what it is, can you let me know. I'm not that concerned about it to be honest though.

Yep that's exactly the same sound! - I'm pretty much the same as far as not being overly concerned - and yeah, I'll update with anything further I discover about it.

We have a feeling it's the fuel pump making that noise...nothing to worry about its been happening on our since day 1 and haven't had any issues. It's not just on the diesel models with this noise - we've got the TH. The diesels pitch is higher/worse than the petrol versions

Same in my TH. Either it's normal, or they're all broken!
