Default Holding copper tube together

I'm making a little model out of 8mm copper tube, as it's flexible and I can cut it to length easily. The problem I'm having though, is getting the separate pieces of tube to stick together.

I tried using regular solder, even with separate flux from a can, but it doesn't seem to want to stick to the tube.

Any other ideas?

the copper has to be bright..mmm.... rubbed back...it has too shine for the solder to stick and bronze will work better but that will need alot more heat.

A butane hand torch or oxy with a small tip to heat it up.

Silver solder to weld. Ask for 2% or yellow tip. It's the cheapest at about $2.50 list per stick & is all you need for what you're doing.

Flux- not needed with above solder.

You can buy it at Bunnings or any refrig wholsaler (there's a few out your way). I got a fair bit of the stuff & softdrawn copper left over from jobs. If it can wait, i'll bring some with me to the next meeting.

Picked up a propane blowtorch today and some different solder. The blowtorch works a lot better than a soldering iron! Just couldn't get enough heat into it before.

Thanks guys
