Started working on the upper shock mount today. I've explored every option for mounting long travel shocks in the rear and I keep coming back to going up through the floor! I decided to go with rhs for the main hoop for ease later if I decide to panel around them eg false floor/drawers ect and I think it matches the box shape of the xj. Added a spreader bar and started adding gusseting and mocked up mounting tabs.

Ill plate the floor where the hoops mount with 3mm and the whole thing will get welded in. This is how it looks in position....

There will be more gusseting ect where it attaches to the floor and probably some feet that I can put bolts through to a bolt plate on the underside of the floor to sandwich the whole lot together for extra strength. Going to help a friend truss his front jk diff next couple of days (drink beer) so probably won't get anymore done till next week.

Your timing couldn’t be better! I only just ventured back on here the other day after a long absence while I focused on my other hobby of building custom motorcycles. No real updates till now but it’s getting some performance upper engine work starting next week if all my parts show up in time. I’ve got a few other plans for it also, mostly more armor and a few suspension tweeks once the motors done. Yours is looking real good man! Lovin the new draglink/tie rod setup. Still after a set of the ford brake mount brackets too if you ever get them cut . I’ll post up some picks next week if photobucket will still let me. Cheers
