Sent an email this time.... See if this gets a response!
Good evening,
I have asked on your Facebook page, and by the Jeep Support link on your Facebook page, but have had no response to either. I saw this email address given to others on your Facebook page so am asking via this method.
I have a Jeep Wrangler JK, 2010 V6 3.8L manual, purchased new in June 2010, VIN 1J4BE2D15ALXXXXXX, with currently just over 90,000km.
Despite many faults repaired under warranty*, I still love my Jeep and will most likely replace it with a newer model in another few years.
However, one of the faults was the clockspring, which was replaced in 2011. Now the clockspring has failed again with the Air Bag light flashing on every time the steering wheel is turned. I note in the US the RHD versions have been recalled** to replace a faulty clockspring already and the earlier versions have had their clock springs extended to 10 year replacement warranty.
Since this is such a vital component of the mandatory ESP safety system I am astounded at being quoted well over $1000 for the repair/replacement for a component that is getting worldwide notoriety for failing repeatedly. Adding salt to the wound is that I can buy this part brand new from the US and ship it to my door for $236 Australian.
This component is obviously not up to the task for which it was designed to perform, so why as loyal Jeep Customers are we being screwed over with ridiculous prices to fix a design fault?
I await your reply.
Dave Baker
* The many faults referred to on my vehicle as per attachment.
