Default FSJ Seats

Has anyone fitted after markets seats to their FSJ?

If so what did you use? I broke the back on mine today whilst bouncing over some bumps.

The XJ Seats do they fit up to the SJ rails or have you got to fit XJ rails as well?

i put an ebay after market passenger seat in mine. to do that, i built a new from from the floor up, bolted a flat piece of plate to the top of that, and bolted the new seat to the plate. that allowed the seat to use its own rails and i could decide its final position after the base was bolted into the car. even that way, the wide transmission tunnel made most seats impossible to fit, as most available ones have the rails way too far apart. that is an even bigger problem on the drivers side.

if you have a welder, you should try to repair the existing seat. if you turn it upside down on a couple of milk crates or similar, you can take on the metal upholstery clips and should be able to pull the vinyl back far enough to get to the frame where it has cracked. it is the easiest option.

mind you, i didnt think of other jeep seats and if xj ones fit, it would be a major improvement to have reclining seats. why would anyone make non reclining bucket seats??

Thanks for all the tips guys, I like the idea of using the XJ seats. Might give that a crack on the weekend.

The full size seats in the for sale section look good.
