I seem to have resolved this issue but thought I'd add a thread for the benefit of others. FWIW, this is related to my need a battery thread.
The story is I was driving down the shops, the engine started to misfire just a tad then it completely stalled. Tried to start it and it would fire but not run.
Then the battery died so I suspected I had a low voltage issue and the computer was complaining. With a newish battery it ran a bit longer (however with the MIL light on) then crapped itself if I put it in gear or pressed the brake pedal.
Got it home, check for codes and I saw a P0203 which can indicate a bad injector, bad wiring or a faulty ECU. I ended up running through the diagnostic procedure and found there was an issue for the majority of procedures. Here is the offending text:

Turn the ignition off. All Disconnect all of the Cylinder Fuel Injector harness connectors.
Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
Remove the ASD Relay from the PDC.
Connect a jumper wire between cavity 30 and cavity 87 of the ASD Relay connector. Turn the ignition on. |
Until you get to step/procedure 7 you do not need to disconnect the ECM harness.
Anyway all of the checks were fine, all resistances and voltages were on the money so the ECU and wiring looked good.
I reconnected all injector and ECU connectors and tried again and all was good, car started and ran fine. Time will tell but it looks like I had a dirty connector on injector 3 which created the issue, the quick re-seat appears to have solved the problem.
If it doesn't clear itself I may have a faulty injector or ECU, I hope this isn't the case.
For info these are the manuals fault conditions in this case for Inject 1:

Set Condition: The ECM detects insufficient current through the injector driver when on.
P0201-CYLINDER 1-INJECTOR CIRCUIT OVERCURRENT HIGH SIDE
When Monitored: With the engine running.
Set Condition: The ECM detects excessive current on the common driver circuit.
P0201-CYLINDER 1-INJECTOR CIRCUIT OVERCURRENT LOW SIDE
When Monitored: With the engine running.
Set Condition: The ECM detects excessive current on the injector driver circuit. |
