Default WH CRD Stuck in park!

Today my WH CRD is stuck in park. Has anyone had this problem?

I can release it by removing the tab to the right of the gear stick and pushing a screw driver down it. When it goes back into park it gets stuck again and I have to push the release button again.

Please help!

Just to confirm (not being condescending)
Foot on brake & engine running?

As wjandy posted, no brake lights may mean the switch on the brake pedal is broken or worn out. If it isn't working then the interlock will not release, its the most likely cause.

Hi Guys,

I have replaced the brake switch and still no brake lights and will not shift out of park.

I have a brake controller and noticed that when I apply the brake on the controller it releases interlock but not with the pedal.

Any other ideas?

Disconnect the brake controller (or at least the brake wire to the controller) & go from there.

Checked the fuse's?

There will be a code in the computer that will point you to the problem. You will need a code reader, BlueDriver is a good one.

Problem solved!
Brake wire was running along under door plastic scuff plate, had rubbed raw against car body and was shorting out.
