installing tail gate lift struts on a WH
Hi
Bought a pair of the above off eBay.
Very open to suggestions on how to fit.
The struts are currently extended - do I need to do anything to allow them to compress when fitted?
I'm a klutz when it comes to things mechanical but I need to learn - hence this.
Thanks

Just swap them one at a time.

With the tailgate open & someone applying upward pressure on the tailgate, simply unbolt & replace one at a time.
You want the extra pair of hands because if like mine as soon as you unbolt one end of one of the old struts the weight of the tailgate wants to make it close on you.
I suppose you could stick a bit of 4x2 under the tailgate to hold it open if you are on your own.
Watch out the first few times you open the tailgate after the install, mine opens so quick it will take your head off.

Thanks guys
I'm having a problem getting the screws out at this stage but I'll persevere.
Screw head is somewhere between a slot & a phillips?

I think you might find its a torx bit and not a slot or Phillips head screw driver.
