Exclamation 1995 Jeep Immobiliser help needed!

Hi Forum ppl,

My mums 1995 Jeep Cherokee just broke down (1hour ago)
Immobiliser has died and doesn't work even with a brand new battery.

1) Is there a way to by pass the immobiliser on these? I read somewhere that just by opening/locking the passenger side door can cancel the alarm?

2) The Immobiliser is a "Lintek TX-89", where do I get a replacement?? Google doesn't even have an answer...

Cya

Craig
P.S: I'll be trying to fix it tomorrow and live in Edithvale VIC, so if anyone has ideas, please call 0408 842 737

is it an immobiliser, or an aftermarket alarm? I don't think they had immobilisers fitted in 1995 - just keyless entry.

How do you know that it isn't working, what are the symptoms?

My understanding is that with these earlier model immobilisers, the signal can be interfered by a phone tower or remote garage door etc. There was a recall to fix this problem and the later models no longer have this problem. Ive heard of 4 ways to un-immobilise under this condition.

1. Keep trying, eventually the jamming signal can stop, might be half hour or so later tho.

2. Hold remote under glove box and press unlock as its nearer to the reciever.

3. Push car around a corner, out of line of sight of the offending jamming transmitter. Or if you have non-injection gas like me, start car on gas, drive away and press unlock.

4. as mentioned above, disconnect, reconnect battery or pull out larger 50A fuse and replace it.

Never tried 2, 3 or 4 before so cant say if they work or if they are just myths but number 1 worked for me.

thanks for help everyone, turns out connectors on battery inside the wireless entry were a bit corroded and not making a good connection. So they looked "fine" but not a strong enough connection to make the single work. All fixed now
