Several months ago the council dumped tons of dirt on the outside track. The dirt was 4" deep covering 3km+ of track, this stuff had the consistancy of talcum powder. After heavy rain at the end of last year the dirt was gone. I would estimate 1500 to 2000 cubic metres of dirt washed away to somewhere. Maybe someone from the council should take the blame for whats happend, its much easier for them to blame the quarry and 4WD activity. No wonder the locals are pissed..........
"There are properties further down the watercourse that are owned by private individuals that have lived there for 4 generations in some cases. Their dams etc. have silted up due to sediment run off from the virgin land owned by the quarry. This run off has been directly attributed to water flowing down washed out dirt tracks into the creek. (these are the tracks we love because they are fun) These tracks number in the dozens. The private landowners have met the council and complained about the environmental damage which is now impacting on their properties. There is also the added problem of endangered species living in this watercourse being destroyed."
