Default Kaymar Rear Tyre Carrier

Anyone know why the Kaymar Rear Tyre Carrier is only available for Pre 97 XJ models?

Did they change the mounting system on the later models?

Thanks....

Does suck.....

Will talk to the guys at Suburban when I am down there next week getting my roof rack installed. If I win powerball tonight they will have my XJ for quite a while..... :D

Another option would be to buy the pre 97 bar and fab up some side wrap around peices - hmmmm.....

Maybe if the price is right and theres enough interest we could arrange some sort of a group buy for anything that gets those tyres out of our cargo areas.

Something to think about..

Hi,

I think the Kaymar rear has other issues as well as the wrap at the corners. Post '97 XJ has slight curve to the steel rear door. Pre 97 has straight. The Kaymar bar needs extensive mods to fit so it doesn't interfere with the rear hatch.

I know Suburban have done some but i think they quoted me a large amount to do the necessary mods to make it fit.
