Hey thanx guys a great help. I hadnt thort about the height difference in bigger diameter tyres. I am told here in the west 2" suspension increase and 2" bigger diam tyres is it and bigger lift can be engineered but bigger than 2" in tyre diam will always be illegal.I was going to stick to 30's anyway to avoid loss of power with gearing.

thanx jungle juice, does the 30,s rob much power with stock diff's? what ratio did you use? I read a somewhere a method of calculating that on stock diff's 30's would take 3% power and 31's take 7%. the same calculation said that to regain power you need 4.11 for 31's and 3.77 for 30's is that right.

Default alternate suspension height measurement.

Hi ya Shane
Go jeep has the alternate method of measuring stock suspension height on his website if u go there and look under suspension mods and then go to " adding a rancho add a leaf to spring pack"
Marcus says the front stock height is 11.25" from the flat round bumpstop area inside the bottom of the coil up to the top of the spring isolator where it meets the spring tower.
For the rear you measure from the top of axle to the bottom of frame rail right above the bumpstop. stock is 6.25" for D35,6" for 8.25 & D44.
Hope this helps you measure your lift.

I run 3.73s and they are perfect for the 30's, it is near enough to a standard sport's revs per km.
I am very happy with them, did it myself (d30) once I bought the right tools....

455mm at the rear. (17.75")

I'm guessing you have a saggy rear lift and a bullbar on the front ???

Limited models are 1" lower all round.
Just measured my saggy beast. 99 XJ Sport with stock suspension.

Front = 18.11inc (46cm)
Rear = 16.7inc (42.5cm)

The springs on the rear of mine look flat. I was going to get new shocks all round and new springs for the rear factory height but seeing my fronts are lower than they should be do I need new springs at front too?

Cheers,

You have hardly lost anything in the front, though the rear is a bit cactus....
