Hard to beat these for value, looks and performance
Got them from BlackJack after a lot of looking around.

Different strokes as they say - i didn't want steps - anything that sticks out to ground out on things is bad news for my type of driving and as i'm not a short arse getting in and out mostly isn't an issue

I've seen the limitations of steps time and time again ( for my type of offroading ) they just get ripped off, hung up on things and buryied in the edges of ruts

I'd suggest that for hard use you need to decide what you really need steps OR sliders. Sometimes one will work as the other... but not always.

No - its to the bolts that hold the bodymount to the chassis. They arent huge but they certainly aren't self tappers.

Whats' always a concern is that the further out any steps are the more leverage is placed on the mountings when you lean on something.

Imo they are more steps than sliders as there's no plate running along the sills.

I know its a bit of a fine point to some but it makes a huge functional diffference if your after body armor rather than steps.

Oh, youre fully correct. Was looking on the smittybolt site and must have got the wrong installation instruction doc. The doc from quadratec shows indeed using the bodymount bolts. Hmm, yes, these look nice.

I'd agree with you but the blackjack sliders dont sit out past the wheels or flares, and i'd rather rub them than have anything get any closer to my bodywork, sliders should protect the side and bottom of your tub from carnage in my opinion, anything that is flush with the side of the tub wont stop you crushing and creasing your doors and tub.

Agree, even if I didnt need steps for the missus to debuss I would be purchasing sliders with a side extention (step) to keep the doors and sills protected from side impacts.

I see MMs very valid point about extra clearance and not hanging up on the steps, but Ive seen too many doors, rear quarters, sills and even flares damaged that would have been protected with quality slider steps.
Personally I would rather be hung up on a solid slider and need a winch off a rock with no damage than wreck a door or sill for the sake of not getting hung up...but Im never being timed when Im 4wdriving eg comps etc!
Horses for courses!

Matt.
LOD make one of the best in my opinion, great slider and still a reasonable step, but for $1300?? Ouch!!
Matt.
