Default 17" Goodyear MTR's are being considered for Aus

passing on some info i got from goodyear. I emailed them asking if they plan to bring 17" MTR's into the country & they said they're currently considering 265/70/17's. If it happens it won't be for a few months yet but at least they're considering bringing them in and appear to have a time frame in which a decision is to be made.

With the new Patrol running 17's & Grand Ltd, Prado & i think a couple of others already using this size one would hope there will be enough demand that manufacturers will begin to make available a 17" equivilent of their 16" tyres. Some already sell 17" in overseas markets due to demand such as Goodyear MTRs'mtr's.

I need tyres desparately, one is nearing illegal tread depth and i guess even if they were brand new they're still stpping me from going beyond a dry drit road so i gotta do something very soon. I've just been holding off hoping there'd be new stuff released and i don't wanna spend money buying new wheels in a 16" size. Oh well...bottom line is if in the next month nothing changes i'll be most likely buying a set Maxis like BDASH had on his white GC that went to Jeep heaven.

here's the reply i got from Goodyear

Quote:
Good morning Mario,

This is the latest on 17" MT/R's. It may take a couple of months (or longer) to make the decision and then 12 weeks to bring
them in. If we go ahead I would expect to see them in Australia around March-April 2005. Please keep in mind this is a rough estimate as the
final decision to bring them in has not yet been made.

I hope this is of some help to you....stay tuned.

Have a great day Mario

Merry Christmas

Hi Tania,

We are currently analysing this requested size and pattern in a 265/70/17. I will confirm our decision for distribution.

If we import, it will take approx. 12 weeks.

Thanks,
Glenn

Good afternoon,

Is there any chance of seeing these in Australia in the future?

Thanks a bunch

Comments: I'm currently very limited in offroad tyre choices as my 4WD is sold with 17" wheels. The tyres i'd like to buy are Goodyear MTR's but they're only available in the U.S. in 17" sizes. Does Goodyear Aust have any plans to bring this size, or any other patterns in into the country in the near future?

Thanks in advance,

Yeah i know and there's a couple of others that'll fit stock - 2" lifted GC's available too, but then i see what's available in 16" that fits GC's and wish i could have those. The Goodyear mtr is one such eg.
