Engineering a cj8 scrambler
G'day, I took my CJ8 to get a engineer certificate yesterday & I have to get some small items sorted which is OK but he is concerned about the tyres & suspension as he cant find the original specs & their options. I have 31" tyres & the shackles are 6-1/2" (165mm) between the pin centres. He says the shackles are not permitted unless they were a original option, the tyres need to be within 2" of original size or option & the wheel track must be within 1" of original, I have a rear wheel track of 1450mm tyre centre to tyre centre. My main question is as a engineer doesn't he do tests to approve the above as I get the impression that he is indicating they may need to be removed which I don't want to do. The report is for NSW & the Jeep is a 1982 Scrambler, 258 original motor & 5 speed box. The main reason for the report is because it has been converted from LHD to RHD which he is happy to sign off on that part. Anyone know where to obtain the original specs & input as I have not done this engineering stuff before but am 99% positive people on here have engineered their vehicles for bigger tyres than what I have. Thanks Darren
