This a Good Question Andrew, Sorry I Cannot Answer it as I Would Like To Know as Well. I Heard a DC to DC Charger is ReQuired, So if Anyone Has the Answer I am another pr of Ears.....Bob

Yeah, I'd like to know the answer too! I would think you can - it's just a battery in a box. Should be right with an isolator and the correct wiring. I don't know about the DC/DC part. Someone will know though! We have just used our Arkpak to run the fridge and charge the mobiles/tablet, etc. They are a great unit!

We just use an Airflex (flexible 2kg solar panel) that can be mounted on the Pioneeer Roof Tray. You could use any folding solar panel and charge the car's battery up when you reach camp if you wish.

I have an Arkpak in our camper that is directly charged from the outer terminals through an Anderson plug, Redarc battery controller from the Battery under the seat, so basically it works like a second battery. This continually runs the 80 litre fridge in the camper while travelling. We completed a 4 week trip to Fraser back in April / May and the set up worked fine. Once the camper is setup I just plug a 120w solar panel into the trailer (Anderson) and it keeps charging.

I use a 100A/Hr battery for the car fridge and caravan and I use a Ctek DS250S DC/DC charger and it works for my set up. Gives the second battery better charge than the alternator in my opinion also has the option of plugging in a solar panel.

You can plug it straight into the 12 volt adapter in the back. One thing to watch though is it doesn't have low voltage detection (AFAIK) so you will want to make sure it isn't connected to a constant power outlet, or you leave ACC on for too long. Another option is to run a dual battery cable directly from the alternator with voltage detection and isolation in circuit. It will charge faster than the 12v lighter sockets will.

I mounted a 120ah deep cycle in the spare wheel with a ctek 250s dual. Been going strong for 2 years!

Just welded up a steel plate to screw into the spare wheel holder.
