Another great post almc3, confirms many things which is good for future diagnostics...............most interesting thing is that my CRD is returning the same figures as yours is and it has 50,000k more on the clock which I find intriguing, I wonder if a life lacking stop/start driving and mostly long fast runs has kept the gremlins away, though my starter does give a growl sometimes.

Thanks Drover/Fester.
As both the 03 Larado and the 04 Limited had the same problems in starting I guess
these are normal 2.7 events. I did find out that if engine starts straight up but cuts out after 10-20 seconds ,hi pressure pump is the cause- this is after injectors have been checked for operation . Also noted on 04 Limited according to service records found in log book , camshaft sensor had been replaced twice before-so it has now been replaced 3 times in 210,000klm.
Drover -good suggestion on CAV water trap/filter - I see Fuel Manager has a universal kit and Sakura has an economic option from Ebay. I was considering finding
a filter with plunger type pump for priming purpose built in - as fitted to early Hi Lux or Cat skidsteers -both have water traps, and fitting one way valve to tank/filter line
may have assisted in hard starting.
I was reading up on Sprinter forums , some of the OM612 powered vans have 400,000 miles on them (600,00klms) and still going strong so hopefully our Jeeps power on for years - Thank for your input - Almc
