The Jeep has not had its auto box serviced yet, but will have to take to Jeep as it don’t have a dip stick like the older jeeps it needs a electric probe (pain)

I'm not too sure about the electric probe for auto fluid levels - a work mate was a mercedes mechanic and tells me they had metal flex cord type disticks to suit different vehicles, they remove the dip stick tube cap (just above the turbo), dip the oil, and then seal a new cap in place.

Anyone know the recommended service interval for the mercedes auto in the 2.7 crd Jeep? I've read 'sealed for life' somewhere but Ssang Yong recommmennd approx 50k filter and fluid change for the same gear box and the mercedes dealer recommends about the same.

100,000K is the recommended interval, I changed mine a lot earlier to make sure nothing extra was in the oil. Get it changed about every 30,000k now that way I know I shouldn't have any surprises. No leaks around the box is my way of checking the level, been going to make a dip stick, maybe one day !!!!!!!

It’s been serviced throughout its life and it has about 120000km on the clock, but I am not sure when the transmission was last serviced, I think I will service it myself, I have ordered the dipstick from the USA , does anybody have a step by step guide to service the transmission i.e. change fluid and filter?
Cheers

Are you sure the dip stick will be the right one as the yanks never had the 2.7 CRD in the country ???? It was only in Europe and Australia.

I bought a manual on CD on Ebay from the UK which had the 2.7 included, it was only about AUS$12, has all the info needed.
If you can't locate one PM me and I could email the relevant sect, but it would probably take about 5 emails to send it all.
