I had my engineer compliancing a turbo upgrade today & asked him about these issues. Remember this is for QLD but most of the Codes are shared.

50mm maximum suspension lift allowed

50mm maximum body lift allowed.

25 mm maximum tyre lift allowed (50mm diameter increase).

Individually these can be carried out without compliancing. we can have compliaced lifts of up to 125mm as a combination of these measures, but we cannot exceed the individual limits.

Previously they could be approved under the light commercial codes but this has nowbeen dis-allowed. Track increases of 50mm are still allowed for 4WD & diameter increase has gone up fromt the previous 15mm.

What this means is that hte common 2.5" (64mm) lift kits and above are illegal & cannot be approved at all. Also my 50 mm lift with 33" tyres requires compliance whereas I thought it it was safe.

As stated by Task82 earlier check with your state authourity as it is too important to get wrong.

Oops! sorry mate was at work didn't realise I wrote weeks, should be 5-6 Months! I wish it was 5-6 weeks I would of done tyres and lift ages ago! haha

As for the compliance in NSW im going to look into it and might ask the boys down at Heasmans steering, princes hwy. They've been in the game for a while now and are quiet reputable, if anything they would know a bit about rules and regulations.

They are expensive but a couple of questions never hurt anyone.

I'll also ask the boys down at mitchelle bros.

Cheers

If it was me, I'd ask the RTA. They regulate the game

Close, but have some good news for you. Your 50mm lift and 33's are able to be self certified in QLD and do not need inspection or notification to QLD transport. Any amount of body lift is not self certifiable and needs engineer inspection.

Default Difference between 07 JK with 16" and 07 JK with 17"

What was the difference between the 07 JK that came with stock 16" rims and the 07 JK that came with Stock 17" rims?

Did they come with bigger breaks or something?
I'd appreciate it if some one can fill me in as Google Search is not been my friend today.
