I have a 'tongue-in-cheek' request.

You know the auto-park feature? - I would like an 'auto-get out of the impossibly tight parallel parking spot that you ie: Mr Jeep, managed to get yourself into (clever dick of a Jeep) but leaving me about 5 inches front and back from the already parked vehicles'. It would be nice if seeing that you got yourself into that position in the first place, you could get yourself out of it also.

Now, sometimes I use the feature just for 'shits and giggles' - I find the tech very cool, but I usually (in the case of parallel) always use my rule of thumb that if I don't think I can get in there manually ie: you know those 'border-line' situations, then I don't try.

But I was in a hurry yesterday and I forgot the rule-of-thumb.

You cannot fault the tech. It took all of its 6 tries (per the manual before it cancels and gives up) to do it, with the wheel spinning absolutely max degrees each time and the park sense screaming its head off, but it did it and it was perfect - except I had to get out later didn't I.

Logic tells you that if it got in, then it can get out but let's just say, it took more than 6 turns of the wheel to execute that - 'nuff said.

It's such a techno-nerd of a vehicle and I love it so much but I will always remember my 'rule of thumb' now.

But (tongue-in-cheek) an 'auto get out of the park that you got me in, in the first place' wouldn't go astray.
Reminds me of a joke :
A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink, and while he's drinking, the monkey jumps all over the place, eating everything behind the bar. Then the monkey jumps on to the pool table and swallows a billiard ball.
The bartender screams at the guy, "Your monkey just ate the cue ball off my pool table -- whole!"
"Sorry," replied the guy. "He eats everything in sight, the little bastard. I'll pay for everything."
The man finishes his drink, pays and leaves.
Two weeks later, he's in the bar with his pet monkey, again. He orders a drink, and the monkey starts running around the bar. The monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his ass, pulls it out and eats it.
The bartender is disgusted. "Did you see what your monkey did now?" he asks.
"Yeah," replies the guy. "He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures stuff first."

Ah, well I got used to the reversed stalks since I had my Daimlers and Jaguars and now I own an Alfa Romeo Giulietta as well as the Cherokee so no dramas anymore. But I do miss the footrest. And cannot see why they included a 9 speed auto when the 8 speed would have been okay with the 3.2 petrol V6. You never actually get to the last 2 gears.

My updated list:
1. NORMAL park lights.
2. Footrest.
3. A Pillar Handle
4. UPGRADED STD CRUISE control so it brakes as well as accelerates - my ^%$#@&* std cruise has cost me hundreds of dollars - I'm just about ready to pull its fuse so I cant use it even if Im tempted.
5. Ability to use the rear camera any time - ie. as a rear view device while driving.
6. Selectable front camera.
7. Facility to program any function to any control - the way most computer games let you map keyboard keys to ur own preference. ie. I never use the radio station change and volume controls on the back of the steering wheel - so setting those to be ERS plus/minus would be really cool.

Bigger more powerful diesel engine, a more relaxed cruise control that doesn't drop down lots of gears every time a slight rise is encountered.

Only joined the KL club a month ago, initially all the tech teally impressed me, now its shortfalls are starting to frustrate me cause it feels like a pricktease.
Now firstly let me say i do still like the KL and more importantly wife and kids are happy plus i still have old school to keep me happy.
But heres my list:
1. 9 speed tran. Great concept but it upshifts too readily and doesnt like to down shift so coming from a near stop i notice I'm often still in 3rd or 4th and it feels like its slipping/struggling till suddenly it drops back to first and takes off like a rocket. Then theres the lunar 9th gear...
2. Stop/Start. I dpnt want to remember to aqmjjsdisable that POS every time I drive. it needs a switch to enable/disable that remembers it after I turn the engine off.
3. Tailgate glass opening. Had it on our WJ and our KJs but its been deleted from the KLs - WTF best feature.
4. Adjust opening height of tailgate- our shopping centre carpark is wuite loiw and has those free spot sensors which rob a bit more space. if we open the tailgate it hits these and scratchs the paint. bit znnoying when trying to just load thed groceries AND you can't open the glass.
5. Just like the StopStart seems to be killing our battery, the temote start on the keyfob is flaky. I would love to have a button to open/close the windows on the keyfob (our old 2002 e46 beemer had it).
6. Better toing capacity. my XJ is lighter, smaller, less powerful engine snd much worse brakes but csn legallg tow more....
7. 8.4 screen operating system. its pretty average would be much better if it was android based. Eaiser to keep upto date and could be personalised much more.
8. Gauges. What the ...... no volt gauge, no oil pressure and the trip computer info is pretty basic.
9. Adjustable headrest. Stock non-adjusable is killing me. Don't want to drove it more till I fix it. Going to follow this suggestion https://youtu.be/Z_zWAVXd0n8
