So was it the planetary reduction part breaking in the 3 speed atlas??
Have you consider the 3 speed stak box?

I think so, its been a while since I thought about it! IT was the new 4 speed though. The Atlas people in the states were going to build some super special race 4 speed for it but the engineer said it wont handle the Torque over a long period of time.

Pity it broke on its 1st ever outing just crawling around some trails at the Glass House Mtns.

Try one of these if he wants to go back to 3 speed:
4140 hardened main shaft
US$1500 or so I think.

Well after the talk about the failed transmissions I've asked Burnsville about this and the response was pretty simple. It said "Rest assured the auto transmission will hold up fine. After 500 some conversions I have had only 2 bad transmissions. I have run a 440 in my JK for two years with the same transmission I am sending you." I know thats coming from the salesman but that's enough convincing for me as I haven't read anywhere else about any failures although I'm sure there has been some. If anyone can point me in the direction of anywhere there are any stories about this would be appreciated.

Moving forward I have now ordered the 37" MTR's with Kevlar and will hopefully get them this week. I'm not sure how they will fit with only the OME lift but there is only 1 way to find out so I'll give them a try and see what needs to be done to make them work. I don't think I will keep them on until the new axles are done so It will be the stock tyres for a while. I'm sure I wont be able to resist putting them on a for a couple of weekends though.

Unfortunately the mat black finish on the flat fender flares didn't work out. A big thanks to Bill and Manny from DBOR for all there efforts with trying to make these for me. I will now be going with the standard DBOR flat fender flares.

I've now also received some options and pricing for the new axle assemblies. The best option at the moment is the Currie Rock Jock 60's. Unfortunately this means I will need to change wheels as well due the the larger stud patter required for the front axle which will be another extra cost and not to mention the axles are very pricey as well but I guess you get what you pay for. I think the budget has well and truly gone out the window so I'll have to cut back on some things. Not sure what will get cut of the list yet though but hopefully not too much.

Hopefully later this week I should have some shipping info on the engine and install kit.

Have a look at this baby on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT All the hard work is done, bugger its left hand drive, then again you could buy it & just swap over the parts as you know they are going to fit
