From the above description the first thing I'd check are the spring isolators....likely rooted given the mileage of the car.

Took it back to the dealer and they said the issue was the rear ball joints. Had both ball joints replaced at Jeep (under warranty) and that has not fixed it. Jeep are saying it's the shocks and shock mounts.
Now trying to get this covered by the dealer under the statutory warranty as Jeep has quoted $3600 to fix.

If they don't cover it, does anyone know where to buy cheaper shocks and mounts in Perth so I can fit them myself?

The OP never said if he had a Diesel or a Petrol so sourcing new shocks if a petrol would be easy just but some OME or something and if a diesel then Rockauto, I owuld get a survey done by a suspension mob myself , then chase up a warranty as it seems the dealer is just doing the hit and miss diagnosis.

I do know the Nivomats will clunk as they readjust for a little while then they shut up..........
Be nice to know how the OP got on with his problem.

Was the rear shocks making the noise. The dealer agreed to install a set of lifted Springs and shocks as this was cheaper than Nivomat shocks from Jeep and I figured that was a better option.
However I've since replaced the rear shocks with new Nivomats myself and I'm removing the lift kit as it is too stiff and I find it uncomfortable.
Anyone want to buy a lift kit? Haha

be interested to find out which dealer did the replace of the shockies.
Ive got a 2013 my14 as well with the exact same issue.
Got Pedders having a look but if the rear shocks are the issue might try the dealers for a tsb fix if one exists

Surely they would cover it as they have admitted through trying to fix it that there is actually something amiss, but to say its the ball joints and now its the the shock absorbers, I dont feel they have a bloody clue!!!!
Bloody text book mechanics, sorry technicians
And then go ahead and install a bloody lift kit, sounds like one of the apprentices must of had an influence on how YOUR vehicle should sit on the road.
They should of replaced with identical (part for part ) not used a substitute, Thats like replacing Brembo brake calipers on a SRT with after market generic cause they were cheaper.
Before they done the work, did they get your approval first, because if you agreed, unfortunately your on your own
