When I had to replace my fuel sending unit, I didn't feel like dropping the fuel tank, so, I decided to spend the time to make an access cover.
I have a fiberglass tub, so cutting was pretty easy, but this could also be done to a steel tub.
First, I located the spot. Then, I cut out a 6" circle. You can get away with a 4" or 5" hole. I figured this out after the fact.
Keep the cut out piece for the cover.
I made a plate out of aluminum ( 3/16"), that gets permanently fastened to the tub floor. It has threaded holes in it that match up with holes that I put in the cover, too.
Make sure that you use anti-seize on the screw threads!
Pictures make this easier to understand, so here are a couple...
This makes future work back there not-so-bad.
Someday, I'll replace the stainless steel screws with shorter ones, but I used what I had available at the time.
Sorry about using American measurements, I don't use metric much...
Later!
