Default JK rear axle brake line mod

Original stock placement of rear brake lines.

After much contemplation over the location and length of rear lines required for the rear brakelines from chassis to caliper, taking into consideration of the terrain i travel through and cost, I decided to completely relocate my rear brake lines away from the rear corners and drop them directly onto the axle.

This proved somewhat inexpensive, 3 meters of hardline, a few metric and SAE fittings, 2 lengths of flexi hose, a few fabbed brackets and Voila.
Before anyone asks, 2 X flexi lines are required due to ESP, independent braking at each wheel is required.

The original flexi lines were maintained to allow for easy brake pad changes, these lines are actually SAE, where the rest of the fittings and lines on the vehicle are metric due to the ESP pump being an ATE unit.

The 2 x flexi lines off the chassis will be upgraded to braided later, wasn't going to gamble with the cost of braided if i stuffed up a measurement.
These lines also needed to be long enough should the vehicle be lifted on a 2 poster, get airborne or belly out.

All in all, the mod worked out better than i expected at 1/4 of the price of longer bolt on lines

next mod on the cards is front and rear bars

So what was the actual cost if you don't mind me asking?

I haven't had a real good look under the front of mine, but is it worth doing thie to the front axle as well?

around $30 worth of parts is all, a length of flexi hose, fittings and 3m of hardline, if you pay someone to do it i imagine it would be costly, it's labour intensive. Plus you need a pipe bender and a pipe flaring tool.

No adverse effects at all Simsy, it all came together very well, I just wasn't happy with the location of the rear sway bar in relation to the rear lines and the length i needed to allow for the travel it now has.

I will replace the flexi lines with braided soon, will be about $90 for the 2.

Im not going to touch the front lines, just made drop brackets for them on the chassis similar to that of the rear.
