Default Best motor for conversion?

Hey guys. Discuss the best motor for an engine conversion in any Jeep model. What motors would suit what model? Turbo? Diesel? Drivetrains to suit? Etc.

Not that I have experience with it but I think the LS engines are ideal for the JK as long as there is an affordable conversion kit available that works correctly with existing systems, reason I say this is for the availability of spare parts and upgrades for LS engines where as the Hemi's are hard to come by.
I plan to do a conversion one day if I can get a kit for a fair price, motech offers one for around 5k but I would hate to see the cost of it landed here.

Massively depends on the receiving vehicle and also the intended main purpose.

Obviously there is many variables effecting it. To start of the discussions what about the most common ones:
Tj daily driver
Xj daily driver
Jk daily driver
Tj wheeler
Xj wheeler
Jk wheeler
Jk tourer

What motors would suit which and why?
Also out of personal interest what would be a good option for a tourer cj10?

For touring I'd be looking at a mid size turbo diesel, I have a small turbo diesel in my daily driver (car) and love it, a 3.0lt turbo diesel would be a great touring engine for a CJ and I'd love to stick something of that size in my XJ.

Cheers

I want more torque so I am collecting bits for my stroker project. Planning on building a torque monster. Major head work inc porting, extractors and 99 XJ manifold. Also hope to get a tuneable ECU so I can have it tuned for LPG and petrol and have it somewhere in the middle of the best of both worlds.

Regards A

My CJ6 I have fitted a 308 mated to a Landcruiser 80 Series 5 speed & a ford 9" in the back.

Yes fun.

How ever on a couple of things I tested it on I have found that the V8 sits to to far back which has made the front end to light & gains no traction up steep inclines such as the the ones on the test track at the last Jambo at Rydal. However I could reverse throught them with ease. I need to load up the front end more, maybe a winch might be enough.
