Default Yup time to sell

Gday fellas well the time has come to move on to bigger things soon not better just bigger, we have found out our family of two is now becoming three... So the kj will be up for sale. I'll be posting it in the for sale section as well as put it up on a few other car sales sites.

I'm sad to say good bye to the ol girl kind of been like a child to me as I've looked after it like a religion! But it's time and we have discussed to move to a bigger 4by and one that will last as long as our loved kj did.

What price range do you guys seem to see them, or think i should be asking, remember mine has had a lot of aftermarket work and parts done to it, and she's at 140000 for an 05 facelift...

I sold my one owner fully serviced KJ with 220,000km's in used but well loved condition and got $8,500. (Had it listed at $10k). Didn't seem to matter what extras I'd had (new tyres, 12month rego), as there's many for sale for buyers to choose from.

I only got $11500 for my 04 extreme sport, 90000ks, CRDSTU lift, and as new muddies. Took nearly 4 months to move it, but the NT is very Toyota biased. (cruisers everywhere).

Buyers will look at the Red Book or Carsales to see what prices are for that year, model and km and will offer that regardless of the mods - as will dealers. You will only get any value for the mods by selling to an enthusiast like the members on here, who may be interested in paying over Red Book price for a well set-up and looked after model.

Unfortunately most of us on here already have our KJs and don't need another one! One reason for not selling mine is that I would never get a decent sum for the TJM bar, winch, lights, skid plates, airbags, lift, snorkel, DP chip, Provent, electric brake controller, HF & UHF radios, etc, etc, etc. Sure, I know I can remove some of those and put them on a new car - but the effort!

One day, maybe, I'll get a CRD Grand, but not in the near future.

Well sorry to hear that news, this seems to be the main reason people move away from KJs, family size increases and they need more room - been a few lately. But for singles, couples, small families, and retirees, the KJ is perfect. The combination of reasonable off road capability, great outback touring ability, comfort, and economy are hard to find for a comparable price. Not selling mine ever, I'll give it to my son when I go into the nursing home (yeah, famous last words, hahaha). Agree with Pipes, you will never get your money back for the mods and improvements, but then that's true of any vehicle. The later model CRDs have held their value better than the petrols and seem to be selling from $15-20K+ now. What are you going to replace it with?
