Default JK Diesel Engine Swap

Looking for input to the following sceanario in a manual jeep. I'm not up on modern vehicle systems.
Forget the legalites about road worthy etc.

So we remove engine and replace with a full stand alone engine that does not need to hook up to any electronics. Ie old mechanical fuel sytem type engine that does does not need any computer input - or even a petrol motor replacent.

So we now have a modern jeep that is propelled by some old generation donk.

So what happens to the rest of the jeeps management system
- would the management system work for whatever remains, eg ABS, . Are lights, wipers horn etc controlled by system or are these stand alone. Can the managment system be "recoded" to delete systems not present/needed anymore

Is this scenario possible ?

I’d say almost everything is controlled by ecu’s. however, no reason you couldn’t also rewire things like headlights, horn etc. But any safety stuff is not going to work (abs, airbags, tps etc). You’d lose your instruments too, or at least have a whole lot of warning lights blinking away.

Hadn't thought about the air bags. TPS not an issue as acellerator would be cable control.
Agree lights etc can be hard wired & instruments can be set up with gps speedo system,, hard wired fuel, temp gauges. Dont need all the add ons like air temp, fuel useage etc.

Found out the car won’t start without the dash instrument gauges all plugged in. From research I’ve found that is a lot of wiring and computer programming to be able to swap out engines and make most things run. You would have to trick a lot of sensors or program them out to stop the ECU from having a freak out. Might be doable but would be difficult I would say. We are engine swapping next year and basically easiest most effective way is to remove the whole ECU and run engines standalone.

At a guess it would take a decent auto electrician and someone familiar with the Jeep programming and ability to unlock the programming. A fair few companies in the US have gone to a lot of trouble to make the LS and Hemi engines run without throwing constant codes, even many of those still have bugs.

If you don’t know anyone that is either and auto elect or can do all programming, then I would say financially it would not be a viable option.
Easiest way would be forget about all of the things like ESC and possibly Airbags and run the engine as standalone, but even that is still going to take familiarity with auto electrical.
