Great trip report and photos, well done a credit to you. It's refreshing to see people using older vehicles, and not covered with, and full of the most expensive pieces of equipment. You just did it in the vehicles you had, and what great vehicles they are too. The FSJ and the XJ of course, and you got out and enjoyed this country of ours.
Hopefully next year for me.

Great report Purds, it certainly is an adventure of a lifetime.

We were up there in August, a friend of mine drowned his stock standard WH CRD, in Nolans Brook travelling in a northerly direction, it went back to Cairns on the barge from Seisha and was susequently written off, he now has a new one.

Mine did fine, the extra 50mm helps a lot!
We also went out to Lockhart River/Chilli Beach, yes the wind blew, crossed the Pascoe River on the French Line Track, that's a steep, rocky, little gem of a crossing, water wasn't very deep but the way in and out was challenging. (See Pic)

It's an amazing place, a must do for the "purists" we even saw some caravans, the road will be fully sealed all the way to the Top of Cape York within 5 years, but, they'll never touch the telegraph track!

Cheers johnv
