Default OTK steering write up

Just finished doing the complete write up on fitting the over the knuckle flip. This gives more clearance for the tie rod as well as reducing the steering effort due to the flatter links. It was quite noticeable. This gives a longer lasting setup then using hemi's and when combined with a V8 ZJ tie rod, a very strong one too.
Also wouldn't mind knowing from anyone who has done this before what backspacing is the most you can have if running 15" rims.

You find it with the write up on lifting the swaybar links as well as the trackbar axle bracket in the suspension and steering section of my site.

This can also be done exactly the same way on a TJ by just using a LHD drag link.

The tie rods are attached to the top of the knuckle rather than under it. It means therefore that the tie rod sits 2.5" higher out of the way of rocks but being flatter too. This means there is more tie rod travel available when at full down travel so you wont break the tie rod ends or bend the links. If Jimmy had done this to his XJ years ago when I told him too he might have won some comps.
Also reduces the steering effort as more force is put into moving the knuckles left and right rather then pushing down on top of them.

BTW, as I was just checking clearances with the new brake setup I am working on. So I tried to see if a stock standard steel rim would still fit with my OTK steering setup in place. It actually does with a little under 3 mm to spare so don't know if an alloy one would? Just thought I would let you know in case there were any put of by the idea who had steel rims with more than 4" of BS like the stock one at 5.25".
