Default Remote programming

I have a WJ and am looking for someone in Sydney to program a remote. One of mine broke so I purchased one from the UK with the same part number. Does anyone know of someone in Sydney who can program the new one for me.

If it's a genuine Jeep one, then any Jeep dealer's service department. I bought one from them and they did for free (with the cost of the remote being $360 or $380 odd plus GST) , they MAY be able to program a pirate/non-genuine remote, but probably at a charge.

I also recall that some model Jeeps have a method whereby you can do it yourself, but I don't recall any more than it's been covered in a post on this forum some time ago, maybe someone else can chime in....

I thought you needed two working remotes before you could do your own?

According to www.wjjeeps.com the keys can be programmed only if you already have two, but the remotes need to be done with a scan tool.

In the US the WJ keys and remotes can be done yourself but it's not available on export models, dealers only.

Default Update

The new remote is a genuine Mopar part. So it should work.
I took they key to the dealer who had a go a programming it. Couldn't do it because the Chrylser web site was down ? With the scanner they had working they could get the car into teach mode. So it wasn't a remote problem yet.
Anyway they want to have another go next week when the site will be working again.... I get the feeling that some of these new jeep dealers are ok with the current models but get a bit lost on the older ones.
Let you know how I get on.
