Or is it a doable job myself? I know I'll have to invest in an injector puller has anyone done a step by step write up on how to change injectors

How did you come to the conclusion that injectors are faulty? Leak back test?

Removing injector no 4&5 is trouble, you either need to remove the engine mount bolts and drop the engine or cut holes on the steel member above the injectors. I think there is a post about this. Scariest part of the removal is not to strip the treads on the retainer bolt holes on the engine.

It's not 100% injectors yet. I have to do. Leak back test first but that's what it's leaning against , as it smokes like a chimney , I know that holes need to be cut under scuttle panel I've done aLot of research

What codes are you seeing at the moment out of curiosity? When is the black smoke present, under load or at idle?

The job is very doable yourself if you are reasonable confident with tools and can read a service manual. I'd reckon you could have it done easily in a day.

To do the job properly you'll need a seat cutter (~$60) to reface the injector seat, some Torx bits and a torque wrench capable of working at 7nm. You also need the injectors, stretch bolts, copper washers and special ceramic grease to complete the job all available from MB for a reasonable price.

You shouldn't need an injector puller if there is no black death or if the injectors were installed with the correct grease in the first place. Before you do the job though, I'd be inclined to keep drizzling a combination of engine oil and WD-40 around all of the injectors to loosen any crud up to make life easier.

Some people also suggest loosening the injector hold down bolt and running the engine to pop the injectors using the engine compression.

I've got a post on here somewhere about how to cut the holes, once you pull the plastic cowl off it is pretty easy to line everything up. You'll only need a 50mm hole to get 4 and 5 out.

it smokes on idle, and gets worse the more you put your foot down, if driving along and I boot it through an interection, I completely fill the intersection with black smoke lol, the codes I had were for a flat battery, and cam position sensor, I put a new sensor in, hasn't helped

I'd run an injector leak test before I get too carried away with the injectors.

Personally I reckon this would be solved by installing the EGR shunt. Not a difficult job to make the components up, can be a PITA to install though.
