Default TJ Roof Console

Hey guys
This is my first fabrication write up so bear with me.

I had been scouring the internet for ages looking for a good roof console for my TJ Wrangler and didn't find anything i liked.

I stumbled upon TJ Custom Roof Console thread which i thought looked pretty good. I decided to change up the design a bit to suit my needs and this is what i came up with.

A couple of Google Sketchup plans

I was sick of having no interior light so i bought a caravan fluro for it.
Made a spot for my UHF and 6 switches. Two 12v power outlets on the opposite side. There was some leftover room so i made it into a small pocket which is handy when charging things and its a good place for my sunglasses.

I built it all out of 9mm ply.
The lid is a piece of aluminum with the edges folded over.
My friends dad used to be a car upholsterer so i got him to wrap it in vinyl for me. (for free which was nice)
I didn't end up taking any photos of it while i was building unfortunately.

Couple of photos mounted and wiring

The Finished product.

Total build cost : Approximately $100

What do you think?

Cheers,
Paul

Looks nice, mate! How did you mount it to the windshield and roll bar? Did your sound bar get in the way of any mounting brackets?

I made a bracket that bolted onto the 2 screws above the mirror.
At the back i bent a T bracket that attached to the console and at the moment just sitting on top of the roll bar haha. Really should screw it down

I don't have a sound bar so no problems there

i think it will be fine just sitting there if its bolted at the front it cant slide sideways maybe if it bounces upward u could secure it better.

Try some bigass stainless hose clamps around the rollbar.
