replacing the carbet
I had a incident the other day and I am thinking of replacing my carpet in the Jeep. I bought some chicken and i must have hit the brakes too hard and one of the pack landed on the floor without me paying attention. Left it there for a week. Result was in a stinky car with lots of flies.
While he flies are gone, the stink is still present and let me tell you it is awful, some of the blood / fluids were soaking the carpet. I tried vinegar as well as bicarb soda, but since they are neutralize each other I am not sure if I can get this out without either hitting it with a massive chemical warfare or simply replace the carpet with a vinyl flooring. This would make it much easier for cleaning anyway, since I my ultimate plan is to take this car to places. Does anyone have an idea where I can get either generic vinyil flooring or even better, one designed for the WG / WJ (with all the bumps and cut outs). The seating area is enough to replace so it does not have to be the entire carpet area. Or a good recipe for getting the stink out?

Oh boy I had a similar issue years ago.
About 16-17 years ago I went fishing with some mates and some how left a packet of squid, bait packet size, about a kg I think, in the boot over a weekend after parking up.
Same as you but had no flies but the smell. It was terrible and I couldn't get it to go away. Shampooed it, scrubbed it, sprayed anything sprayable on it but came back always. Cleaned entire leather seats, car carpets, boot etc. Drove for weeks with all windows down etc.
Was a shame. Was a mint BMW too. I solved it by selling it, it was that bad.

Fresh charcoal from a wood fire works very well to absorb chemicals and odours. Just put a heap of it all over the effected area an leave it as long as you can, probably a number of days in this case. Vacuum it up. It might need a second treatment, also bicarb is good as well. Get a big packet and put heaps on and leave it for days. Good luck , hope you have success.

A detailing business should be able to help with an ozone treatment.

Thanks Adrian, this would be my last resort but good to know. I will try to get it out first and I am still considering to replace the carpet with vinyl. My V8's carpet looked horrible after a couple of times hitting the trails. You just drag too much dirt in the car when going in and out all the time, esp. if it is a bit muddy.

F*** me, well I will rather take the carpet out and replace it with something different before I would sell it. I checked online for a vinyl replacement but all I found was in the US, or another carpet. I was also thinking if I should use good bedliner instead. I am planning to use Bully liner for outside but raptor liner for inside the cabin. It is has smoother surface finish, while Bully Liner would just collect more dirt I reckon.

Thats not a bad idea. I used BiCarb Soda as well as Vinegar. None really worked. I had it for days and used an entire 1kg pack.
The charcoal would also add a bit of smell which might help to overthrow the stink from the chicken.
