You also need to keep an eye on the rubber CV Boots, I had the rear CV go because the rubber boot had hardened/cracked thereby expelling the grease.
In Australia you can't just replace the CV joint you have to buy the whole shaft which is not cheap. I had to replace the whole shaft.
But I got a joint from the USA at a fraction of the cost of the shaft, put it in the old shaft so now have a spare
