Although we are supposed to have uniform road regs in practice some local authorities don’t always recognize arrangements of other states, just ask car owners with engineered and approved mods to their cars having them rejected by another states registration authorities. Don’t just trust what the feds tell you as each state manages it’s road traffic and registration requirements..

I have driven LHD classic cars on our roads and overtaking can be a challenge as to get a clear view down the road requires moving the car well into the opposing lanes for the driver just to determine if overtaking is feasible. The task is extra hard when following semis (tractor trailers in American).

Shannon’s insurance specializes in modified or unusual car insurance they might be worth talking to as well.
Their website might be a good place to start.

I've confirmed that while under the Carnet CPD, I only need to ensure that my registration is maintained current where my Jeep is registered here in AZ. Which it is so and will be for the duration, so I'm good there.
Also confirmed I do not need any other state approvals.

Thank you. Excellent points.
Although I will be pulling a trailer so I don't anticipate I will often be the faster vehicle on the road and maybe not needing to overtake that much. And my wife will be co-pilot for the duration and sitting in the RH passenger seat so I can always have her check for clear to pass.

A good 'safety device' when travelling on our roads is a UHF Radio....Channel 40 is the station used by 98% of Highway Traffic....our Roads have up to 4x full size 'trailers'....tractor trailers in the US....1x Prime Mover hauling 4x full sized trailers...communication is extremely helpful and recommended.....ENJOY !

Absolutely great comment Pete.
Overtaking a triple or quad, it's always good to talk to old mate on the radio first to see if it's clear as those rear trailers are moving all over the place like a mad womans mind.

We absolutely plan to get a UHF radio. I already have a GMRS in the Jeep but AUS does not operate those frequencies for civilian use. The plan was to just get one or two quality hand held UHFs for close convoy communications etc.
Do you think it's necessary to get a full mobile UHF installed in the Jeep or would a decent hand held be adequate?
