got a new battery for the xj. super charge from battery traders in moss street. 600cca (spose to be 670 so the book says, too long though). $160, maintenance free. much better than the 450cca the owner before me had put in. buggered anyway. also, new terminals. cut wires bit shorter, so have nice shiny wires now. has a built in volt meter.

The bigger cca is for the diesel ....

670cca supercharge fits ... but you have to cut out the ends of the tray and make a new hold down clamp because of the battery shape.

600cca is plenty tho.

was very close, and nearly bought it, just needed to cut one end of the battery hold down point. book also suggested the battery should have recessed terminals. but i read on one of the posts that the older xj's have a higher tray. mine fits without a problem. thanks for the response, good to hear 600 is enough. does anyone know what JEEP requires for a petrol update xj 2000 model?

yeah, thanks, actually found your post when i did a search. i got the mf50, can see in photo. i paid $160, but got it today. it was the mf66 that i nearly got.

just finished putting all the sockets in the back from my second battery have fitted 2 merits 2 cigarette sockets that have a locking mechanism and 1 anderson with a 6 fuse block mounted above them also 1 set of fly leads that are tucked under the tailgate trim
