Default Limp mode?

Hi guys,

I've got a recent issue with my 2014 WK2 diesel. It randomly loses power and acceleration is almost non existent. Always happens from a stand still so never when vehicle is in motion. Sometimes restarting the car fixes the issue, usually after it has been off for a while. I've had the battery changed last week as roadside believed that was the issue but it has just occurred once again. Scanned with reader and no codes. Also strangely my keys wouldn't work today to unlock and lock the car, had to open and lock with the door handles. Any thoughts?

What sort of OBD reader are you using ?? only a few will read actual Chrysler codes...

A code would help narrow things down as it could be a number of causes but most will throw a code of some description...

Try changing the keyfob batteries after you've done what Drover said and had ALL the Codes read...it MUST be throwing codes if its going into Limp mode....'electrickery' needed for that to happen

I don't think it would technically be going into limp mode unless you're getting an engine warning light, hence why you wouldn't be getting any codes.

Using an Ancel AD310 reader. Been researching a bit deeper and cause could be faulty turbo actuator which sometimes won't throw a code...

From what I can see the Ancel will read the generic OBD codes, which may not see a deeper Chrysler/Fiat code but as stated if going limp it will throw at least an orange engine light if not a red, I doubt the turbo it could be MAP sensor or any number of things, being a 14 at least its not the fuel pump relay but could be the tank pump itself they don't always throw a code either........ the number of causes is large.. try the demo version of AlfaOBD with a OBD dongle, if your lucky an ebay ELM27 might be a good one, at least then you will be able to read Jeep codes there are only a couple of readers that will that will that won't cost you a grand or so ...

In your search be wary of yank sites as they do tend to get engines mixed up with the Merc 3lt and the VM is certainly not the same...

Be careful with the ebay ELM27 ! If you try &load it on a laptop with windows 10, the antivirus will reject the download & so you wont get the password. You end up with a plastic brick as you cant get a password.
