Just a note on relays, for max reliability they should be mounted vertically right way up, cause the spring holding contacts open gets weaker with age.Ive seen vehicles with spotlights etc that wont turn off.

Yeah I wasn't real keen on the relay orientation either, but I didn't have many options. My brother found some sealed relays (potted in resin) from RS Components so I'll probably get some of those eventually. Worst case if they fail on I can pull the fuse, but additionally I used the relay sockets so I can just pull them out and replace them as quick as changing a fuse.
We'll see how they go I guess.
