Default Darn Turbo Muffler Sh@t itself

Got the camper packed, jeep packed, ready for the trip to cold Tom Groggin for a long weekend of snow hiking and BOOM, bloody turbo muffler shat itself 10 ks from Tumberumba!!! Nothin I could do will fix it, towing 3 tons means the turbo is constantly on full boost. It took 7 hours to get 80 ks home in limp mode.

I know there are aftermarket replacements but has anyone heard or are using a solid pipe instead of the 2 hoses and muffler?

Now to appease a pissed off wifee.

Fix 1.

Fix 2

Both failed. The pvc blew off and the repair leaked too much forced air.

Nice attempt. Maybe try an exhaust shop for a small off cut. They might even be able to weld a couple of tacks around each end to help the hose clamps hold for now. You don't need that muffler at all

I would be getting an exhaust shop to knock up a pipe, I have it in mind myself and noted in my "To Do List" a pipe 310mm long with a 55mm and 60mm flange on ends... probably require one end to get a bit welded on, a flange is usually about 50mm deep so enough to clamp the hose onto........... I would have given the ends a chamfer with wetandry then a clean up with metho followed by a liberal layer of 5 min araldite and a couple of small S/S screws in it if room, plenty of time to set....

Thanks for the advise fellas.

60mm ends are about right, however the passenger side is more like 70mm. Def need a ridge on each end, probs will be fine most if the time until I tow again.

The car is still under warranty so will get Jeep to replace it but I’ll order one of these.

If you head to Tom Groggin...make sure you go to the Khancoban Roadhouse for THE BEST Hamburgers/Steak Sandwiches n Hot Chips in AUSTRALIA...BAR NONE !!!

Will def give the roadhouse a go. We’ve been through so many times, never thought to stop.

I think the MP replacement is a goer. I like the idea of the large K&N pipe, not the CAI though.
