Question towing with new diesel wrangler?

Hi guys just bought my first wrangler this week so far very happy but..... i bought the 2.8ltr diesel 4 door because i need something to tow our caravan, can anyone tell me how well or bad do they tow, the van only weighs about 1400kg loaded, the book says it can tow 2300kg so im asuming it should be right my main concern is how does the suspension hold up and the auto transmission, also while i am here can you tell me overall how you rate the wranglers as its my first jeep and dont know much about them....

You are asking these supremely important questions AFTER you have purchased a vehicle??
Well the towing question was asked recently and there was way more information summarized than I can write, so can I suggest doing a quick search.
The CRD auto is a great combination and while the weight is within spec I would get a transmission cooler and learn how the lockup works in the auto. Not towing in OD and managing the right foot will keep the torque converter locked and make effortless towing.
Oh, and welcome!
Matt

As jktom so wisely mentioned in another thread whilst the diesel is more than capable of being a great tie vehicle the gear ratios will have an affect on how well it will tow, especially in take off. Unsure what the new gear ratios are in the new ones as changed too many times.

As for the wrangler I think they are a great and versatile rig which will often out drive the user off road

rear coils are very soft. you will need either stiffer rear springs, airbags or a combination of both. fit an oil cooler to the auto transmission (standard mod for any auto box which tows caravan). cheers.

ok thanks for the replies, i'll look into an oil cooler for the trany, i know i should of considered this before i bought it, i did do research but just wanted to ask actual owners cause its my first jeep and my first auto car. I took the van for a spin around town today and it was well almost effortless for the CRD jeep, even without stabilizer bars or airbags it didnt sag or bounce (and we have some pretty bumpy roads around here) so i was more than impressed with its towing... now love the jeep that little bit more...

Is it a 2011/newer or older (pre 2011) ?

They have different diff ratios and transmissions so your experiences will vary greatly depending on what combination is fitted to your vehicle.
