To test before fitment, I followed the Jeep manual, and Unit instructions...used insulated paper clips to jump the connectors.

You wont have to do that now, but pay attention to the unit wiring diagram, as they may differ slightly



mine will be connected using Jaycar Part num HM3211, a 28pin male connector $0.85 just snap of the right lengths, solder the unit wires, and push then home

or just snip the connector and solder wires direct



it fits very tight in the original cavity, but will get very hot in the black roof, which worries me, any other mounting area ideas?

I know the later models have a larger console, more on them and other stuff shortly

umm the oem unit was infa red hence its position. that unit is rf. can go any where, my rf unit is next to the battery.
its a neat install but i share your heat concerns
